Zaragoza celebrates this Sunday, April 12, the 2026 Marathon with a completely renovated route that will cross the center and several key neighborhoods of the city. The race starts at 8:30 AM from Plaza del Pilar and throughout the morning will cause traffic cuts in a good part of the urban area.
Departure at El Pilar and passage through the most emblematic points
The 42-kilometer circuit maintains a central and tourist profile. The start and finish will be in Plaza del Pilar, from where the runners will cover both banks of the Ebro before entering the heart of the city.
The route includes some of the most recognizable points of Zaragoza:
- Square of Spain
- Promenade of Independence
- Square of Aragon
- Don Jaime I and the Coso
- Central Market and Roman Walls
To these are added more recent areas of the circuit such as the Expo and several strategic bridges.
Novelties of the route: faster and less hard
The new design seeks to improve the experience of the runners. One of the key changes is the advancement of the most demanding section, which moves from kilometer 32 to 17, reducing the final toughness of the race.
In addition, problematic points of the previous layout are eliminated, such as narrow areas or uncomfortable passages, which makes the circuit more fluid and fast.
Also, new highlights are incorporated such as:
- Third Millennium Bridge
- Stone Bridge
- Bullring
- Constitution Walk
Affected neighborhoods and traffic cuts
The route crosses areas like La Almozara, the center, Torrero or San José, which will imply traffic restrictions for several hours.
The cuts will begin from early morning and will be maintained until midday, depending on the race pace and the passage of the runners.
It is recommended to avoid car travel through the center and consult alternative routes if it is necessary to move around the city.
Schedule and duration of the Zaragoza Marathon 2026
The start is scheduled for 8:30 and the completion limit is around five hours, so the event will last until approximately 13:30.
The same route will be shared in part with the 10K race, which broadens the event's impact throughout the city
