The Official State Gazette has confirmed the issuance of a 60 euro commemorative coin with the image of Princess Leonor. The piece pays homage to one of the most relevant stages of her career: her training at the General Air and Space Academy.

The measure officializes the minting and putting into circulation of this coin, which is integrated into a series dedicated to military institutions.

What the coin is like: all the details

According to the BOE, the coin will include on its obverse the portrait of the Princess Leonor in the uniform of the Air and Space Army, along with the inscription “Felipe VI King of Spain” and the year 2026.

On the reverse, an instruction aircraft will appear, accompanied by the face value of 60 euros and symbolic elements linked to her military training.

How many coins there will be and where to get them

The issuance will have a limited character, with a maximum of one million units.

The coins will be minted by the National Factory of Coin and Stamp and will be distributed through the Bank of Spain and collaborating entities, mainly for collectors.

Why this coin is being launched now

The broadcast coincides with the end of the military training process of Princess Leonor, who has gone through the three armies: Land, Sea, and Air.

The objective is to commemorate this moment and reinforce its institutional projection as heir to the throne.

It is not Leonor's first coin

It is not the first time that the princess has appeared on a coin. There was already a previous issue of 40 euros dedicated to her figure, although this new piece has a more symbolic character due to the moment in which it occurs.

More than collecting: an institutional symbol

Beyond its economic value, the coin is part of the tradition of using commemorative issues to highlight relevant milestones in recent history.

In this case, it reflects a key stage in the institutional preparation of the future head of State.
