The published resolution sets the maximum retail prices in tobacconists throughout Spain, following the current regulations of the tobacco market. The changes mainly affect less massive brands, but are part of a broader trend of continuous price revisions in the sector.
Among the cigarettes, new references appear with prices that move in a range that goes from 4.70 euros to 9.60 euros per pack, depending on the format and number of units.
The brands most affected by the rise
The adjustment includes products such as Bullbrand, Burton, Excite or Manitou in cigarettes, as well as multiple brands of premium and mid-range cigars and cigarillos.
In parallel, prices are also updated in:
- Cigars from international brands like Alec Bradley or CAO
- Cigarillos like Toscanello or Mehari’s
- Rolling and pipe tobacco, with increases in different formats
Although many of these brands are not the best-selling, the movement reflects the dynamism of the market and anticipates possible adjustments in other references.
A market in constant review
This change occurs after several weeks in which popular brands like Marlboro, Winston, Chesterfield, Ducados or Fortuna had already experienced price variations.
The Spanish system requires that any modification be officially published in the BOE, which turns each update into a direct indicator of the evolution of the sector.
Why tobacco goes up
Price revisions respond to different factors: production costs, brands' commercial strategy, and tax pressure on tobacco, one of the most regulated products in Spain. Furthermore, the economic context and inflation are also influencing a progressive adjustment trend that affects the entire industry.
What consumers must take into account
The new prices come into effect immediately from their publication, so they are already applied in all authorized points of sale.
For consumers, this implies checking the updated cost in tobacconists, since the differences can vary according to format, brand, and type of product.
