The PP, which holds an absolute majority in the Senate, has decided to end the work of the investigation committee on the blackout after the recent interventions by Vice President Sara Aagesen and Redeia's president, Beatriz Corredor. The popular party members maintain that Pedro Sánchez's Executive “knew it could happen” this energy zero and “disregarded the warnings”.
PP sources have indicated that the Upper House already considers this investigation committee concluded and has initiated the procedures for the drafting of the definitive conclusions. This closure comes after nine months of activity and nearly 30 appearances in the Senate.
Audios
This Wednesday it has been Beatriz Corredor's turn in the commission. Before her interrogation, the spokespersons and the board of the body have met to listen to several audios corresponding to the same day of the blackout, registered on April 28, 2025.
After the hearing, the recordings have been destroyed, although the senators have had the possibility to take notes by hand of the content of those conversations. As a result of what was heard in these audios, the PP has opted to give the work of the commission as finished.
“Despite the lies and the Government's attempts to conceal, thanks to some expert appearances and especially to the audios we learned about yesterday and today, we have managed to learn the truth of what happened with the blackout: The Sánchez Government knew it could happen, disregarded the warnings and then tried to hide that the blackout occurred due to oscillations from photovoltaic power”, states the PP.
According to the popular party's version, in the conversations on the day of the blackout, several allusions from Redeia (former Red Eléctrica) are collected “recognizing that the problem comes from the photovoltaics and that they knew that things were fucked until the system went to hell”.
