The dangers of AI have focused part of Elon Musk's intervention on the first day of the trial against OpenAI, where the businessman has warned about the impact this technology can have if not managed properly.

According to what was published by El País, Musk stated that artificial intelligence "could kill us all" if not controlled, in an intervention in which he once again placed the development of this technology as a potential risk for humanity.

In parallel to those warnings, Musk focused his statement on the evolution of OpenAI from its origin as a non-profit organization. He maintained that he was "deceived" and that he would not have participated in the project if he had known it would lead to a for-profit model.

During his speech, the businessman defended that this change of direction represents a break with the initial purpose of the organization. Along those lines, he stated that "it is not right to steal from a charitable organization," in reference to that transformation.

Criticism of the company's management

Musk directed his criticisms towards the current direction of the company, in a legal proceeding in which he questions the decisions made by its leaders and proposes reversing the company's structure. Furthermore, he claimed his role in the founding of OpenAI, underlining his involvement in the project's origin.

The trial, which is being held in a federal court in California, pits Musk against OpenAI regarding the company's evolution and its operating model.

The process also places the development of artificial intelligence and the risks associated with this technology at the center of the debate, as Musk himself has raised in his speech.
