With an eye on the first days of April, Jorge Rey has brought forward his forecast for Holy Week 2026. According to his analysis based on the cabañuelas, the beginning of the festivity will be accompanied by a more wintry atmosphere than usual, especially in the north and the peninsular center.

The young meteorology enthusiast forecasts temperatures below normal and the presence of precipitation in several areas, in line with the first indications also pointed out by the State Meteorological Agency.

A low-pressure system and polar cold air: the pattern that will mark the beginning of April

One of the key elements of his prediction is the passage of a storm system at the end of March, which would leave behind an influx of cold polar air.

This change in air masses would cause a notable thermal drop and would favor the appearance of rains and even snowfalls in northern areas, an unusual scenario for these dates but not unprecedented.

North and center, the most affected areas during Holy Week

According to Jorge Rey's forecast, the impact will be greater in the north and center of Spain, where the weather could be more unstable during the main days of Holy Week.

The precipitation could continue for several days and, in some cases, combine with low temperatures that are more reminiscent of winter than of spring.

What the AEMET says: first clues but without a closed scenario

For its part, AEMET has confirmed that the start of Holy Week could be accompanied by rains in the peninsular north, especially around Palm Sunday.

However, the agency insists that there is still no completely closed forecast for the entire week, which maintains uncertainty about how the weather will evolve in the following days.

The month of April will remain unstable after Holy Week

Beyond the first week, Jorge Rey anticipates that April will be a variable month. After a brief period of stability with milder temperatures, the rains could return from the peninsular west.

In the second half of the month, the situation could become complicated again with the arrival of new fronts and the possible formation of an isolated low-pressure system that would affect the south and the Mediterranean.

A changing pattern that keeps millions of people on alert

The weather has become one of the main focuses of interest on the eve of Holy Week. Millions of displacements, processions, and outdoor plans depend on a forecast that remains open.

Between the official analysis and the alternative predictions, the scenario points to a common idea: April will not be a stable month.
