The president of the Andalusian PP and candidate for re-election as head of the regional Executive, Juanma Moreno, has assessed this Friday the understanding sealed on Thursday between PP and Vox to form a government in Extremadura under the presidency of the 'popular' María Guardiola. However, he has made it clear that his objective after the Andalusian elections on May 17 is to "govern alone" and avoid a coalition executive.

Moreno has made these statements in a press conference in El Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz), where he traveled to attend the final phase of the M100 'Más vida' League, and he has responded to various questions posed by journalists.

The leader of the PP-A has pointed out that in Andalusia the pact between PP and Vox in Extremadura is received with satisfaction because it implies that "finally the people of Extremadura and María Guardiola have a government", starting from the idea that "in times of uncertainty" like the current ones, "in the world and in Spain, stability and governments are very important".

At the same time, he has wanted to "recall that this occurs after six months" since the call for the regional elections in Extremadura —held on December 21—, a period that, as he has criticized, has meant "half a year of institutional paralysis" in that community.

Faced with that scenario, Moreno has underlined that "in Andalusia we are looking for another option, and we aspire to have a government on our own, to be free and have the freedom to not have to wait those six months, to be able to constitute a government from minute one, as we have done throughout these four years" of legislature, in which the PP-A has enjoyed an absolute majority.

Interrogated about the concrete content of the agreement signed between PP and Vox in Extremadura, the leader of the Andalusian popular party has specified that he does not know the text, that he has not had "time to read it", although he has highlighted his colleague María Guardiola's "management capacity" and has reiterated that he trusts her and that "she is going to make the best possible government".

Moreno has insisted that in coalition executives "some have to give in on one side and others have to give in on the other, and logically when there is a coalition government there has to be giving in", although he has shown himself "convinced that María Guardiola and her team will know how to move this government forward with the classic policies that our political project —in reference to the PP— represents".

In this context, the PP-A candidate has reiterated that the Popular Party intends to "avoid" a coalition government in Andalusia after the May elections, and has remarked that "Andalusians will have the opportunity on May 17th to decide if they want a path like the one Extremadura, or Castilla y León, or Aragón have had to open, or a single path, which is the Andalusian path, which is a government with stability and, therefore, a sufficient majority".

Lastly, asked about the "rejection" of the "distribution of immigrants by" autonomous "communities" included in the Extremaduran agreement between PP and Vox, Moreno has responded that "each autonomous community makes its own decisions", and that he is "respectful" of the agreements reached, which in this case "I don't know what they are", the president of the PP-A has concluded.
