The Popular Party and Vox have reached a "definitive" agreement for the configuration of the new Bureau of the Cortes of Castilla y León, with the intention of guaranteeing the "stability" of the Legislature that starts this Tuesday. The understanding contemplates that the 'populars' cede the First Vice-Presidency to Santiago Abascal's party, which means that the PP renounces the majority that initially corresponded to it in this body.

According to sources from both political forces who have indicated to Europa Press, the pact establishes that a PP procurator will be proposed as president of the regional Parliament, while a Vox representative will occupy the First Vice-presidency of the Chamber.

With this scheme, the Bureau will be made up of two members from the PP, two from Vox, and two from the PSOE. This distribution differs from what would strictly result from the vote distribution, which would have granted three positions to the PP, two to the PSOE, and one to Vox. In this way, the new agreement implies that the 'populars' lose the majority in the governing body of the Cortes.

Both parties have stressed that it is a "firm and lasting" agreement that they consider an essential prior step to establish a "useful and effective" regional Executive. In their view, the pact reflects "the will for understanding" so that the Community has a Government capable of providing "quality public services" and, in their opinion, responds to the mandate expressed by citizens in the elections held on March 15.

In addition to the Presidency and the first Vice-Presidency, PP and Vox will secure two of the three Secretariats of the Bureau, while the PSOE will assume the second Vice-Presidency and the remaining Secretariat.

The two formations have insisted on the "definitive" nature of this understanding, which they place within the framework of an appeal to "facilitate governability and ensure the good functioning of the parliamentary institution during the next four years".
