Indra Group has announced the opening of a new cybersecurity innovation and talent center in Catalonia, a strategic initiative with which it seeks to reinforce its positioning in a key area for the digital economy and national security. The project is part of its IndraMind division and combines applied research, technological development, and specialized training.
A hub for developing proprietary technology in cybersecurity
The new center is born with a clear objective: to promote advanced and “sovereign” cybersecurity solutions, that is, developed with proprietary technology and aimed at reducing external dependencies. As the company has conveyed, the hub will work on the anticipation of digital threats and the generation of critical technological capabilities.
From Indra they underline that this space will not be solely an operational center, but rather an environment of innovation where R&D&I projects with direct impact in both the civil and defense spheres will converge.
Talent Training and Recruitment: Central Axis of the Project
One of the pillars of the center will be the training of professionals specialized in cybersecurity, in a context marked by the scarcity of qualified profiles. The company itself points out that Catalonia presents a gap of thousands of experts in this field, which reinforces the need for initiatives aimed at talent development.
In this regard, the director of Indra in Catalonia, Anna Ortí, has highlighted that the objective is “to boost cyber resilience and prepare future professionals,” aligning training with real market needs.
Public-private collaboration and high-impact services
The center will also be oriented towards collaboration with public administrations and companies, with the aim of deploying high-impact cybersecurity solutions. Indra aims for a cooperation model that allows innovation to be transferred to the productive fabric and critical infrastructures.
This approach reinforces the company's role as a technological partner in strategic areas, especially at a time when cybersecurity has become a priority for governments and large corporations.
Catalonia, strategic hub for cybersecurity
The choice of Catalonia responds, according to the company, to its consolidation as one of the main technological hubs in southern Europe, with a growing ecosystem in the field of cybersecurity.
With this move, Indra seeks to strengthen its presence in the region and make it one of its key innovation hubs, in line with its growth strategy in critical technologies.
One more step in the commitment to technological sovereignty
The opening of this center is part of Indra's roadmap to reinforce its role in digital sovereignty and cyber defense, two priority axes in its corporate strategy.
The group thus accelerates its commitment to the development of its own capabilities in a geopolitical context marked by the increase in digital threats and the need to guarantee technological autonomy in Europe.
