The federation of Industry, Construction and Agro of UGT-FICA has conveyed its concern about the recent situation at Indra Group, considering that certain movements in the company may affect its short-term stability and, with it, the development of a project it describes as “key” for the technological sovereignty of Spain.

In a statement -and in a line similar to that announced yesterday by the other major union, CCOO-, the union organization emphasizes that Indra must consolidate itself as a “true national champion” in the field of defense, in an increasingly demanding international context. To do this, it defends the need to strengthen its own capabilities and bet on a solid industrial model that generates quality employment and knowledge.

Call to stability and to social dialogue

UGT-FICA adopts a position that it defines as “responsible and balanced”, in which supports the strengthening of the company as a strategic actor, but always linked to institutional stability, social dialogue and guarantees for the workforce.

The union denounces that the instability derived from the doubts in Indra's presidency would be eroding market confidence and putting the credibility of the industrial project at risk. In its opinion, this situation introduces uncertainty that can affect both the external image of the company and key decisions regarding investment and employment.

Warning on the impact on employment and industry

The organization warns that dynamics external to business stability should not condition the development of a company considered strategic for the country. In this regard, it demands “responsibility” from all involved actors to stop this drift and guarantee a stable framework that protects both the workforce and the entire industrial fabric.

UGT-FICA highlights that the current industrial project is contributing to employment growth, to the strengthening of capabilities and to the generation of new opportunities. Among the examples, the increase in staff in production centers of the Community of Madrid or industrial initiatives in Gijón and Córdoba stand out.

Defense of the strategic role of Indra

The union insists that alliances with universities and training centers are being key to generating talent and consolidating a strong and structuring industry in the territory.

Therefore, demands to provide the company with a framework of institutional stability that allows giving continuity to the industrial project, reinforcing security in decision-making and guaranteeing a predictable work environment for the workers.

UGT-FICA concludes that it will continue working so that Indra's development is based on a solid, participatory model oriented towards the general interest of the workforce and the industrial fabric. The union warning comes at a particularly sensitive time for the company, in which its role in defense and technological sovereignty is at the center of the economic and strategic debate.
