Comisiones Obreras (CCOO) Servicios, the majority union at Capgemini, has shown its opposition to the Employment Regulation File (ERE) proposed by Capgemini Spain, which contemplates up to a maximum of 748 dismissals. The organization has denounced "the company's lack of foresight" and has announced that it will "prioritize voluntariness and the reduction of social impact" during the consultation period already underway.

The negotiation table between the Management of Capgemini Spain and the Representative Commission of the workers was officially constituted last Thursday, marking the start of the 30-day legal period to negotiate the ERE presented by the multinational.

From the CCOO Capgemini union section, a "frontal rejection" has been expressed to the arguments put forward by the company, according to the union in a statement released this Friday.

Challenging the Causes and Union Strategy

The trade union organization led by Unai Sordo has underlined that the levels of workers without an assigned project – the main criterion for impact provided for in this ERE – "had been warned about and non-traumatic corrective actions had been suggested by the trade union organization for more than two years". As the majority force in the company, CCOO will articulate its actions during this consultation period around four "fundamental" axes.

First, it will focus on challenging causes: the legal team of CCOO will review in detail the documentation provided by the company with the aim of dismantling or questioning the justification for a collective dismissal. In parallel, the union will work on reducing the impact of the adjustment, trying to lower the final number of people affected as much as possible through negotiation.

Another of the pillars will be the priority of voluntariness, for which CCOO will demand that any departure occur in a "strictly voluntary manner or through early retirements, avoiding traumatic departures". Likewise, the organization sets itself the objective of "achieving the best economic and social compensation for the staff" in the event that contract terminations finally occur.

CCOO Servicios has emphasized that it faces this process "with responsibility" and has urged the staff to "verify any information through its official channels," avoiding rumors and resorting solely to communications from the union and the legal representation of the workers.
