The Income Tax Return 2026 (corresponding to 2025 earnings) will mean, like all previous ones, a small economic relief for people who are due a refund, who will check their bank account every day to see if, finally, that longed-for payment from the Tax Agency has arrived.

The 2026 Income Tax Campaign begins next April 8 and will run until June 30. The Tax Agency has six months, from the end of the deadline for submitting the returns, or from the date of submission if the return was submitted out of time, to make the refund or to initiate a verification procedure for the requested refund.

This does not mean, obviously, that one has to wait so long, given that refunds begin a few days after the start of the Campaign, for all those declarations that have been submitted early and, obviously, without incidents.

How to check the status of your refund?

 If the final result of your 2026 Income Tax Return was an amount to be refunded, they explain at the Tax Agency, you can check the status of the refund you have requested. You will find the information by accessing your file through the Draft/declaration processing service (Income WEB). Generally, the refund is made by bank transfer to the account of your ownership that you indicated in the payment or refund document.

The key dates of the Income Tax Return 2026

  • April 8 until June 30, 2026: online submission of 2025 Income and Wealth tax returns.
  • May 6 until June 30, 2026: the Tax Agency will be able to prepare your 2025 Income Tax Return by phone (appointment request from April 29 until June 29).
  • June 1 until June 30, 2026: the Tax Agency will be able to prepare your 2025 Income Tax Return in person at its offices (appointment request from May 29 until June 29).
