Podemos has announced that this Thursday, in the Plenary Session of Congress, it will not support with its vote the decree-law on fiscal measures against the economic effects of the war in the Middle East. Instead of supporting it, its four deputies will opt for abstention, according to sources from the 'purple' party.
From the formation they stress that they will not block the validation of this first package of measures in the Lower House, but they understand that neither can they vote in favor, considering that the tax cuts are not the adequate instrument to face the price escalation.
With this stance, Podemos places the Government in the need to gather the support of Junts and the rest of the left-wing parliamentary partners, such as ERC, Bildu and BNG, in the event that the PP finally opts for voting against instead of abstaining.
The popular ones have subordinated this very Monday their support in Congress for the anti-crisis decree on the Executive including new initiatives, among them the deflation of the personal income tax rate.
Podemos insists on limiting prices and strengthening social measures
Meanwhile, Podemos has detailed that it will continue demanding that the Government establish a cap on the prices of fuels, energy, and food, with the aim of preventing that the 5 billion euros mobilized end up increasing the profit and loss account of large companies.
In this vein, the same sources recall that they already registered a bill in Congress to set limits on said prices, in addition to recovering measures such as free public transport.
The co-spokesperson for Podemos, Pablo Fernández, also indicated this Monday at a press conference that “they will vote in favor of the housing decree approved by the Government”.
