The Secretary of Organization of the PSOE of Almería, José Nicolás Ayala, will lead the list of the PSOE for Almería in the regional elections of May 17, in a candidacy that places Fátima Herrera, municipal spokesperson in the Almería City Council, as number 2, and former councilor Rodrigo Sánchez Haro in third place.

The proposal, analyzed by the Provincial Executive Commission after the local assemblies held in recent days, implies a renewal in the starting positions with the aim of improving the results obtained in 2022, when the socialists achieved three seats for this constituency.

Among the most notable changes is the departure from the top positions of the general secretary of the PSOE of Almería and sub-delegate of the Government, José María Martín, in a bid for new profiles within the candidacy.

Ayala, former mayor of Terque, thus takes over from the previous head of list in 2022, the current national deputy Juan Antonio Lorenzo, whose leap to Congress after the general elections of 2023 allowed the subsequent entry of the autonomous parliamentarian Mateo Hernández.

For her part, Fátima Herrera ascends to second place in substitution of parliamentarian Pilar Navarro, after having served as spokesperson for the socialist group in the City Council during the last stage of the municipal mandate. In third place, Rodrigo Sánchez Haro joins, who was a minister in the last Andalusian Government presided over by Susana Díaz.

The provincial leadership of the PSOE must submit the candidacy to the regional Executive for its definitive validation within the calendar prior to the elections of 17M.
