RTVE has proposed holding on May 7 a debate between the five candidates for the Presidency of the Junta de Andalucía whose parties have representation in the regional Parliament, as well as a face-to-face on May 4 between the president of the Junta and candidate for re-election for the PP-A, Juanma Moreno, and the candidate of the PSOE-A, María Jesús Montero, on the occasion of the regional elections on May 17.

As detailed in a note from RTVE, these debates are framed within its "commitment to independent and plural information and given the relevance" of the Andalusian elections.

The five-way debate would include Moreno, Montero; the candidate from Vox, Manuel Gavira; the head of the list for Por Andalucía, Antonio Maíllo, and the aspirant from Adelante Andalucía, José Ignacio García.

According to RTVE's proposal, the debate on Thursday, May 7 would be offered live and during prime time on La 1 in disconnection for Andalusia, and for the entire country through Canal 24 horas, Radio 5, RTVE.es and RTVE Play. The corporation will make the signal available free of charge to all media and institutions that request it.

In the invitation letter sent this Monday, the director of TVE News, Jon Ariztimuño, requests the collaboration of the parties running in the elections, "within the framework of the broad informative offer that RTVE intends to promote."

At the same time, it expresses the commitment that the coverage of the next electoral process be "a reference from the point of view of pluralism, neutrality and the most absolute respect for the interests of the citizenry".

The public corporation has stressed that it has been organizing electoral debates in all recent regional elections with "excellent results" in terms of audience. On March 5, La 1 and Canal 24 horas were the preferred option for the Castilian-Leonese audience to follow the debate between the three candidates for the regional presidency, with a 10.9% share. In Aragon, the eight-way debate on January 29 was at the top in the region with an 18.1% share on La 1 and Canal 24 horas.

RTVE was equally the leading option in Aragon to follow on January 26 the face-to-face between Jorge Azcón and Pilar Alegría, with a 14.1% share on La 1 and Canal 24 horas. In Extremadura, the eight-way electoral debate held on December 18 reached in the region a 17.7% share on La 1 and Canal 24 horas.
