The CCOO Industria and UGT FICA unions have called for a work stoppage in the service station sector throughout the State coinciding with the May bridge, with the aim of unblocking the negotiation of the collective agreement. This strike at gas stations comes after months of talks and after, according to both organizations' complaints, the employers' association has taken a step back at the negotiating table.

Strike Dates

The strike will take place over two key days. The first stoppage will occur on April 30, 2026, between 12:00 and 16:00. The second will take place on May 3, 2026, for the entire day, coinciding with the return from the May holiday weekend, when, according to CCOO, gas stations will be stopped, evidencing the open conflict in the sector.

Reasons for the strike

The call responds to the blockade in the negotiation of the collective agreement. According to UGT, after months of partial progress, the employers' association has adopted an "unacceptable attitude", withdrawing proposals and presenting an economic offer that they describe as regressive.

Along these same lines, CCOO points out that this setback represents a direct attack on staffing levels. Both unions agree that the employers intend to limit salary increases without guaranteeing the maintenance of purchasing power and eliminate previously proposed increases, transferring the impact of the economic situation to the workers.

UGT further emphasizes that this situation occurs in a context where fuel prices remain high and companies continue to accumulate profits, while wages lose value. For their part, CCOO denounces that the employers' association "is taking it raw" while salaries remain low.

Union Demands

CCOO and UGT demand an agreement that guarantees decent working conditions. Among their main demands is a minimum annual salary increase of 2%, along with a guarantee clause that ensures updating according to the real CPI plus 0.5%.

Likewise, the unions demand progress in aspects such as work-life balance, reduction of working hours, and improvement of bonuses. According to both organizations, the lack of progress in these matters represents a worsening of working conditions.

Warning to employers

The unions calling for this strike at gas stations warn that they will not accept setbacks in rights or hidden cuts. Both CCOO and UGT insist on the need to reach an agreement that responds to the real needs of the staff and guarantees stability and wage justice.

In this regard, they point out that, if the employers' association does not rectify its position, they will increase union pressure until an agreement is reached that includes these demands.
