The Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda has dismissed Francisco Javier Martín as Director General of Housing and Land and has appointed Inés Sandoval in his place, according to the Official State Gazette. The change was agreed upon by the Council of Ministers at the proposal of Minister Isabel Rodríguez.

Until now director of Planning and Evaluation in the Ministry, Sandoval moves to direct one of the key areas of Housing. Her replacement in that position will be María Isabel Vergara Sánchez, also according to the BOE.

Sandoval is a law graduate from the University of Castilla-La Mancha and studied Social Work at UNED. Before her time at the ministry, she was director of Promotion and Collaboration at SEPES.

Career of the new Director General

Between 2019 and 2025, she served as Director General of Housing of the Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha, a period in which she was involved in the management of public housing and land policies. She also chaired the public company Gestión de Infraestructuras de Castilla-La Mancha between 2023 and 2025.

Previously, between 2015 and 2019, she was deputy spokesperson and councilor for Employment and Equality in the Toledo City Council, in addition to being vice-president of the Municipal Sports Board and president of the Santa María de Benquerencia district.

The change represents a shift in the technical leadership of the Ministry of Housing with a leader who was already part of the department's structure and who now assumes the Directorate General of Housing and Land following the departure of Francisco Javier Martín.
