The Council of Ministers has approved this Tuesday the State Housing Plan 2026-2030, its housing roadmap for the next four years that seeks above all to increase the stock of protected housing, whether public or private.
And in that package of measures, the Government has also remembered the young people, who are particularly hard hit by the housing problem.
For them, specific measures are incorporated to facilitate youth emancipation with direct aid for rent, subsidies to access housing, and public guarantees to overcome initial economic barriers.
Young rent bonus reinforced up to 300 euros per month
The new plan approved by the Government, the first after passing the Housing Law, positions renting as the main entry point for young people into the real estate market. For this reason, the youth rental bonus is reinforced, which may reach up to 300 euros per month for young people up to 35 years of age.
In addition, each autonomous community may increase said figure based on its particular criteria.
Up to 15,000 euros to buy first home
The plan also includes direct aid to facilitate access to owner-occupied housing. Young people will be able to receive aid of up to 15,000 euros for the purchase or construction of their first home in towns with up to 10,000 inhabitants. An amount that could be increased to 20,000 euros if the municipality suffers from depopulation.
Rent with option to buy, aid of up to 30,000 euros
Likewise, renting with an option to buy in protected housing is promoted. In this case, aid can reach up to 30,000 euros, acting as an incentive to reduce the total cost of housing access. It is economic aid that will be deducted from the final price of the home if the tenant decides to exercise the option to buy.
The measure applies to Protected Housing for Rent with Option to Buy, a system in which the price is regulated by the Administration and cannot be freely set by the owner.
