25th Amendment: Democrats demand Trump's removal after his threat to Iran

The political tension in Washington has reached a boiling point after Donald Trump's latest post on Truth Social. The phrase "an entire civilization will die tonight, never to return," referring to the conflict with Iran, has caused dozens of Democratic lawmakers to break the impeachment taboo and formally demand the invocation of the 25th Amendment of the Constitution.

The mechanism of the 25th Amendment on the table

Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari (Arizona), of Iranian-American origin, has been the first to lead this movement, assuring that the Cabinet must act because "the fate of the global system is at stake." She has been joined by influential figures such as Ilhan Omar (Minnesota), who has called the president a "deranged lunatic" who must be removed from office immediately.

The 25th Amendment allows the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet to temporarily remove a president who is considered "unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office".

Although Trump's Cabinet is made up of loyalists, the tone of his latest war threats has provoked "rumors" of organized actions in the Capitol, according to high-level sources confirmed to Axios.

"Denial to the

Trump style"

Meanwhile, the centrist wing of the Republicans, represented by Don Bacon (Nebraska), tries to lower the tension by calling the message a "Trump-style negotiation," although it recognizes the seriousness of the moment.

From the White House, spokesperson Davis Ingle has responded harshly, calling the Democrats "pathetic, weak, and ineffective." However, pressure continues to grow: leaders like Hakeem Jeffries are already maneuvering to force a vote on war powers against Iran later this month, while the oil market watches with dread every move in the Oval Office.
