The Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, has held this Sunday a telephone call with his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi, in which he has conveyed to him Spain's support and solidarity against the attacks launched by Iran.
In a message disseminated on social media, Albares has stated: "I have conveyed my solidarity with his country. The Iranian attacks must cease. Spain asks the parties for containment and de-escalation. Dialogue and negotiation is the solution for a stable and prosperous region."
The head of Spanish diplomacy, who has stressed that he is "good friends" with Safadi, has detailed that during the conversation they addressed the war in the Middle East and its "terrible human and economic consequences". "Also the situation in Gaza and the West Bank, and the brutal violence in Lebanon," he added.
Safadi holds the position of deputy prime minister and minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in the Government of Jordan.
Jordan, along with other Washington-allied states in the region, has become one of the targets of Iran's retaliations after the attack carried out by the United States and Israel last February 28, which has caused more than 2,000 deaths, according to the latest count provided by the Iranian authorities.
