Hours before the ultimatum imposed by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, for Iran to reopen the strategic Strait of Hormuz and end the conflict expires, diplomatic sources cited by CNN indicate that a last-minute agreement between the parties to avoid a military escalation could be reached.

The ultimatum, which has as its initial deadline 8:00 PM (Washington time, 2:00 AM in Spain) this Tuesday, demands that Tehran accept the security conditions imposed by Washington and guarantee freedom of navigation in the strait, a route through which approximately 20% of the world's oil transits.
