The Lebanese Shiite militias of Hezbollah have reported this Sunday an attack against an Israeli warship located 68 nautical miles off the coast, an episode that has been denied by Israeli military sources, in the context of a new morning of clashes in Lebanese territory during the Israeli offensive to consolidate control of the south of the country.

In a statement, Hezbollah explained that the Israeli vessel was preparing to launch "aggressions against Lebanese territory." According to the organization, the attack was carried out with a cruise missile and ended with a direct hit against the ship, which would be the first action of this type since the start of the new phase of clashes between Israel and the militias of the Shiite party, with the war of Iran, which began on February 28, as a backdrop.

Furthermore, the last occasion on which Hezbollah used a projectile of these characteristics dates back to the July 2006 war, in parallel with a speech by the party's former secretary general, Hassan Nasrallah.

In contrast, Israeli military spokespersons have assured the Army radio that said attack never occurred and, publicly, the Israel Defense Forces have issued warnings to the inhabitants of seven neighborhoods in southern Beirut to abandon the area due to an imminent attack against Hezbollah positions.

On the other hand, the official Lebanese news agency NNA has indicated that the Israeli bombings in southern Lebanon during the past night have caused the death of six people: three of them belonging to a displaced family in the town of Kfar Hatta and another three in another attack in the city of Sadequin.
