Iran bombs the Dimona nuclear complex and opens an unprecedented escalation with Israel after the attack on Natanz

Iran has attacked with projectiles the area of the Dimona nuclear complex, in southern Israel, in direct response to the previous bombing against the Iranian plant of Natanz. The conflict thus enters a phase of direct confrontation over strategic nuclear infrastructures.

The conflict jumps to the nuclear centers of both powers

The war between Iran and Israel has crossed a line that until now had been avoided.

Iranian projectiles have impacted in the vicinity of Dimona, in the Negev desert, where the Negev Nuclear Research Center is located, considered the heart of the Israeli nuclear program.

This is a movement of enormous symbolic and strategic charge: for the first time, the confrontation is explicitly directed against facilities linked to nuclear deterrence.

Emergencies deployed and remains of interception in the area

The Israeli emergency services have urgently deployed in Dimona and in the nearby town of Yerucham.

On the ground, missile fragments and remains of interception systems have been found, which confirms the activation of air defense systems in the area.

For the moment, no structural damage to the nuclear complex nor victims has been officially reported.

The response of Tehran after the attack on Natanz

The Iranian attack comes as a direct retaliation for the bombing suffered this Sunday at the Shahid Ahmadi Roshan uranium enrichment center, in Natanz, one of the main pillars of the Iranian nuclear program.

That strike, attributed to Israel, marked a turning point.

The response from Tehran, now directed against Dimona, confirms a phase change: from indirect confrontation to a direct exchange against critical infrastructure.

Dimoma, the most sensitive core of Israel

The Dimona complex is one of Israel's most protected assets.

Although the Israeli State maintains a policy of ambiguity about its arsenal, it is widely considered the only country in the region with operational nuclear capability.

The attack on this area therefore represents a frontal challenge to its national security and its deterrence strategy.
