The Army of Iran has communicated this Saturday that it is re-imposing limitations on the transit of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, after denouncing that the United States has violated the conditions of the ceasefire agreed on April 8 by maintaining the perimeter closure of the area.

In a note released by the Iranian public radio and television, IRIB, the Armed Forces point out that, despite having accepted "in good faith" and "after prior agreements reached in negotiations" to "allow the controlled passage of a limited number of oil tankers and merchant ships through the strait", the US authorities "continue to participate in acts of piracy and banditry under the pretext of an alleged blockade".

Faced with this situation, the Iranian Army indicates that the control regime of the strait returns "to its previous state", that is, "under the strict administration and control of the armed forces".

"Until the United States ends the complete freedom of movement of ships between Iran and between Iran, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz will continue to be strictly controlled and in the previous state," concludes the military statement.
