The spokesperson for Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baqaei, has warned this Sunday that a potential American bombing against the country's power plants would constitute a war crime and a crime against humanity.

"Threatening to attack a country's critical infrastructure, the energy sector, would mean that you want to endanger the entire population. It is no less than a war crime and a crime against humanity," Baqaei stated in an interview with the pan-Arab channel Al Jazeera.

For his part, the president of the Iranian Parliament, Mohamad Baqer Qalibaf, has lashed out against Trump's "reckless actions" that "are dragging the United States to live a hell for each of its families." "The entire region is going to burn because you insist on following the orders of (Benjamin) Netanyahu," he argued.

"Make no mistake: You will gain nothing with war crimes. The only real solution is to respect the rights of the Iraí people and put an end to this dangerous game", he has stated.

Qalibaf has also made the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz conditional "when all war damages have been compensated through the transit fees" of Hormuz.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Presidency, Mohammad Mehdi Tabatabaei, has reproached Trump for having "resorted to obscenities and nonsense" out of "desperation and anger." "The stupid bastard has started a crazy large-scale war in the region and continues to boast about it," he pointed out.

At the same time, Iranian public television, IRIB, broadcast this Sunday a brief message from the Iranian supreme leader, Moqtaba Jamenei, dated March 12, in which he insists that the Strait of Hormuz "must remain closed".

"The Strait of Hormuz must remain closed. Dear brothers in arms: The will of the masses is to continue with effective defense. The lever of the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz must definitely continue to be used," he said.
