A tragedy has shaken the city of Shreveport, in the state of Louisiana, where an armed man shot and killed eight children in different homes during the early hours of Sunday.

The victims were between one and 14 years old, according to local authorities.

Three distinct scenarios and ten people shot

The attack did not occur at a single point. The police have indicated that the crime scene extends to several locations, which complicates the investigation.

In total:

  • 10 people were hit by gunfire
  • 8 died (all minors)
  • 2 were injured
  • The attacker died after a police chase

After the shootings, the suspect fled by stealing a vehicle. The police initiated a pursuit that ended with the aggressor shot down by the agents.

The final shooting occurred after fleeing to another nearby area, with no officers injured.

Possible family ties

The first reports indicate that some of the murdered minors were relatives of the attacker, in the context of domestic disputes.

Authorities, however, continue to gather information to clarify the facts and confirm the links between the victims and the aggressor.

An "unprecedented" scene

From the local police they describe what happened as an exceptional situation due to its seriousness and extent.

The investigation has been activated with the support of the state police, which has requested citizen collaboration to gather images, videos, or any relevant information.

Ongoing investigation

The case remains open while police teams analyze the different crime scenes and reconstruct the sequence of events.

The priority now is to accurately determine what happened at each of the residences and the attacker's motivations.
