The White House has held the “left-wing hate cult” responsible for the attempted attack against the President of the United States, Donald Trump, which occurred last Saturday in Washington, in an incident in which an armed man tried to storm a hotel where the president was participating in an official event.

The presidential spokesperson, Karoline Leavitt, has reappeared before the press after her recent maternity leave to condemn the attack and link it to what she has described as a “systematic demonization” of the president by political and media sectors critical of his figure.

Accusations

Leavitt has stated that political violence in the United States is a consequence of hostile rhetoric maintained for years against Trump. In his statements, he has accused commentators, Democratic politicians, and part of the press of contributing to a climate that, according to his version, “legitimizes violence”.

“These types of constant speeches have led unhinged people to believe extreme things and act accordingly,” stated the spokesperson, who also called for an end to what she considers “lies and defamation” against the president and his followers.

Judicial investigation

The alleged perpetrator of the attack, identified as Cole Thomas Allen, appears this Monday before a federal court in Washington. For the moment, he faces charges of assaulting a federal officer and using a firearm in the commission of a violent felony, although the Department of Justice has indicated that new charges could be added.

Authorities maintain that the individual intended to cause significant harm, although the intervention of security services prevented the attack from materializing.
