The United States authorities have communicated this Friday that they are lifting the sanctions on oil originating from Iran that is already loaded on ships, in a context of sharp increase in fuel prices due to the war in the Middle East and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
The U.S. Treasury Department has issued a new license through which the purchase and sale of products derived from Iranian crude oil “loaded on vessels from March 20” is permitted, that is, from this Friday and until Sunday, April 19.
The measure comes amid a full escalation of international oil prices, derived from the offensive initiated on February 28 by the United States and Israel against Iran.
The Islamic Republic has reacted with targeted attacks against ships transiting through the Strait of Hormuz, a key maritime corridor through which nearly a quarter of the world's oil trade transported by sea passes.
