Almost 369,000 Andalusians will debut their vote in the next regional elections

A total of 368,853 Andalusians will be able to go to the polls for the first time in the regional elections on Sunday, May 17. This figure represents 5.41% of the 6,812,861 citizens called to vote in the community, according to data from the Electoral Census Office consulted by Europa Press.

By provinces, Seville leads the increase in new voters compared to the regional elections of June 19, 2022, with 91,003 additions to the census. Next are Malaga, with 69,299; and Cadiz, with 58,329. They are followed by Granada, with 39,767; Cordoba, with 32,919; Almeria, with 29,456; Jaen, with 25,733; and Huelva, with 22,347 new electors.

If compared with the general elections of July 23, 2023, the number of people who will be able to vote now for the first time amounts to 269,260. The provincial distribution is as follows: Sevilla, 66,981; Málaga, 50,507; Cádiz, 42,492; Granada, 29,007; Almería, 21,637; Córdoba, 23,730; Jaén, 18,501; and Huelva, 16,405.

Regarding the European elections of June 9, 2024, the census variation was more moderate, with 186,090 new voters throughout Andalusia. By provinces, the distribution was: Seville, 46,276; Malaga, 34,908; Cadiz, 29,336; Granada, 20,075; Cordoba, 16,378; Almeria, 14,890; Jaen, 12,830; and Huelva, 11,397.

In total, 6,812,861 Andalusians, of whom 302,005 reside abroad, are eligible to exercise their right to vote on Sunday, May 17 in the regional elections, which represents an increase of 2.5% compared to the elections held on June 19, 2022.
