The First Vice President of the Government and Minister of Economy, Carlos Cuerpo, has valued this Monday as positive the defeat of Viktor Orbán in the elections for the presidency of Hungary, considering him "one of the great burdens" of the European Union.

In an interview on 'Onda Cero', reported by Europa Press, Cuerpo has stressed that "A clearly pro-European agenda from the new Hungarian prime minister is very good news", in reference to Peter Magyar's victory in the Hungarian parliamentary elections held this Sunday. In his opinion, this result implies that, "fortunately", "a brake and a stop" has been put on the "far right" in Hungary.

Position of the Government on China and human rights

At another point in the conversation, when asked if the Chinese regime respects human rights, the vice president specified that the goal of Pedro Sánchez's Executive is to promote a "multilateral agenda" that leads China to fully respect said rights.

Later, questioned about the situation in Taiwan, Cuerpo has aligned himself with China's agenda, which, as he has indicated, "is very clear in these cases", and has stressed that the role Spain must assume is to act "diplomatically" as a mediator, in order for the conflicts in the area to be "resolved with the participation of the parties."
