The former first vice-president of the Government, former Minister of Finance and current candidate of the PSOE-A, María Jesús Montero, has stressed this Monday in the Senate that the Civil Guard's investigations into the former president of the State Industrial Holdings Company (SEPI) refer to a period in which she no longer managed the public company.
Montero has responded thus to the questions raised by the PP in the Senate's investigation commission on the management of SEPI, recalling that when he appeared a few months ago in another commission of the Upper House, Vicente Fernández "was not in any situation that would allow suspicion" of what has subsequently transpired.
"What is being investigated regarding Mr. Vicente Fernández was from a period after his departure from SEPI. For everyone to know, his actions at SEPI are not being investigated by the courts," reiterated the socialist leader, who once again stressed that his appointment at the head of the organization responded to "strictly technical and professional" criteria.
Faced with the PP's question about whether he maintains his defense of Vicente Fernández's honesty, Montero has clarified that, in light of what has become known, it is "another situation," although he has stressed that it is necessary to let the courts work and trust that Justice can clarify the facts under investigation.
