The PP and Vox hold this Friday a new round of talks in Mérida with the aim of finalizing an agreement to form a regional government that allows the 'popular' María Guardiola to be invested president of the Junta de Extremadura, according to 'popular' sources have told Europa Press.

During the last months, both parties have held various meetings in which they have been outlining a programmatic pact. The most recent meeting with media presence took place before Holy Week and, upon finishing, both PP and Vox appeared before the press.

On May 4, coinciding with the Andalusian election campaign, the deadline set to close a government agreement in Extremadura expires. If an understanding is not reached before that date, the Cortes will be dissolved and regional elections will be called again.

In this new meeting in Mérida, the usual negotiating teams of PP and Vox participate. On behalf of the national PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo's head of cabinet, Marta Varela, has traveled, while the party's general secretary, Miguel Tellado, intervenes telematically, as this Friday he is in Malaga for an internal event.

Both parties insist on their willingness to agree

The secretary general of Vox, Ignacio Garriga, stated this Friday in an interview on "RNE", reported by Europa Press, that they are advancing and, in recent days, "at a greater speed". Furthermore, he has said that he hopes that "very soon" agreements with the PP in the communities can be announced, although he has admitted that they will not all be at once.

This Thursday, the spokesperson for the Popular Group in Congress, Ester Muñoz, guaranteed that her party will not "stop" until an agreement is reached with Vox in Extremadura, Aragon and Castilla y León, and she was convinced that "there will be governments" in those autonomous communities because "there is no other alternative." "What I can assure you is that there will be governments," she added at a press conference.
