The Deputy Secretary of Health and Social Policy of the PP, Carmen Fúnez, maintained this Sunday that the WhatsApp messages that the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, the former Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, and the Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, sent to former minister José Luis Ábalos, when his alleged involvement in corruption schemes was already public, show that "the pattern of conduct of the sanchista Government is lies and hypocrisy."
In statements distributed to the media, Fúnez has remarked that this week the trial against Ábalos begins, "who was Pedro Sánchez's right-hand man", prosecuted for five crimes and with a prosecutor's request of more than 24 years in prison, which, he stressed, means he goes "from the Council of Ministers to the dock".
"In the end, a Government that said it came to end corruption has been seen to be a Government that is not only cornered by it, but that is created by and for corruption," has affirmed the leader of the PP.
Fúnez has focused on the fact that the messages disseminated by "El Mundo" this Sunday reveal that Sánchez, Montero, and Puente conveyed to Ábalos "their support and their trust" when his alleged involvement in various corruption cases had already been reported in the press. From there, he has posed the following question: "When did the Government lie? When does it say it doesn't know José Luis Ábalos or when it sends him messages conveying its support?".
The popular official has stressed that, in her opinion, "not only one person has failed but an entire government", something that, she pointed out, will also be reflected this week in the Senate, where the president of Forestalia and the wife of Santos Cerdán, "who was also Pedro Sánchez's right-hand man and who has also been to prison", are summoned to the Koldo case commission.
"They say one thing to citizens and to the media and transmit a very different one when they use WhatsApp and private messages," Fúnez reiterated, contrasting the Executive's public discourse with what, according to her, the revealed private communications show.
