A serious accident shook this Sunday the M-600 highway, near Brunete, in the Community of Madrid. A car driven by a 19-year-old young man ran over a group of seven cyclists, leaving one seriously injured, four moderately injured, and two slightly injured.
The incident occurred at kilometer 33.900 of the M-600. SUMMA 112 teams rushed to the scene and attended to the seven cyclists, all men between 25 and 50 years old.
One cyclist evacuated by helicopter
The most seriously injured was transferred by air ambulance to Puerta del Hierro Hospital. The other six cyclists were evacuated to different hospitals in the Community of Madrid with injuries of varying severity.
Additionally, the driver of the vehicle, a 19-year-old young man, had to be treated for an anxiety attack after the accident.
The Civil Guard is investigating the incident
The causes of the hit-and-run are being investigated by the Civil Guard, which will have to determine how the impact occurred and if there was any recklessness.
The accident has caused great shock due to the large group of cyclists affected and the severity of one of the injured.
