The presiding judge of seat number 2 of the Civil and Investigation Chamber of the Court of First Instance of Tudela has ordered this Thursday the provisional, communicated, and no-bail imprisonment of the man who allegedly ended the life of his wife, 44 years old, after hitting her on the head and then strangling her in the marital home in Arguedas.

In the judicial order, which admits appeal, the magistrate initially considers that the events could constitute a crime of homicide. The investigated person, of Moroccan origin like the victim, has availed himself of his right not to testify before the judge during his appearance.

After the statement, the Public Prosecutor's Office requested the imprisonment of the accused, while his defense requested provisional release or, subsidiarily, the imposition of less severe precautionary measures.

On the 18th, around 6:00 PM, the accused presented himself at the Civil Guard facilities in Valtierra to inform the agents that the previous night, around 11:00 PM, he had had an argument with his wife, whom he hit on the head. As he recounted, the woman collapsed and fell to the ground, and the following morning she was still immobile in the same place. Following this statement, he was arrested.

Around 6:45 PM, the body was lifted, as stated in the judicial resolution. At that moment, it was verified that the victim was "lying on the floor face up with a wound on the right side of her head, next to her earlobe, with blood."

The magistrate notes in the order that the preliminary forensic report concludes that "the death was violent, the immediate cause being probable cerebral anoxia, as a consequence of mechanical cervical asphyxiation."
