Mercadona will modify the opening hours of its supermarkets in the Community of Madrid due to the long weekend of May 1st and 2nd, two dates marked on the labor calendar for Labor Day (national holiday) and Community of Madrid Day (regional holiday).

The company, chaired by Juan Roig, will adapt its usual operation —from 9:00 to 21:30 hours— during these days, in line with its policy of openings on holidays.

Partial opening on May 2 in Madrid

On Saturday, May 2, a holiday only in the Community of Madrid, the situation will be different. The stores will open, although not all will do so with the same schedule.

Some establishments will maintain their usual hours, while others will opt for a reduced schedule, generally until 3:00 PM. The company recommends checking the specific hours of each store through its website or at the establishments themselves.

Return to normality after the weekend

After Friday's closing and Saturday's variable day, Sunday, May 3 will remain a usual rest day for the staff. Activity will resume normally on Monday, May 4, when all supermarkets will return to their usual hours.

Calendar of holidays on the horizon

Beyond this bridge, Mercadona already contemplates other special days on which there could be adjustments. Nationally, the next major holiday will be August 15 (Assumption of the Virgin). In the case of Madrid, San Isidro (May 15) will arrive sooner, which could also imply changes in store hours.

With this scheme, the chain maintains its model of flexible adaptation on holidays, combining punctual closures with partial openings according to demand and current labor regulations.
