The general secretary of the PSRM-PSOE, Francisco Lucas, stated this Thursday that he will support "what the membership endorses" in relation to the motion of no confidence registered in the Cartagena City Council.

"In this party, major decisions are always made by the membership," he stressed, after it became known that next Tuesday the members of the PSOE and Socialist Youth of Cartagena will be called to vote in person and secretly.

Lucas emphasized that the internal consultation will be decisive in setting the party's definitive position on the motion of no confidence and that his criterion will be linked to the outcome of that vote.

"The Socialist Party intends to give its four votes, conditioned on the launch of a progressive project and agenda," he concluded.

The initiative has been jointly presented by the municipal groups Movimiento Ciudadano de Cartagena (MC), PSOE, and Sí Cartagena, which have promoted a motion of no confidence "to put an end to the misgovernment and lack of project of the current municipal Executive," led by the popular mayor Noelia Arroyo.

The debate and vote on the motion of no confidence in the plenary session of the council are scheduled for June 2, the date on which it will be decided whether the change of government in the municipality will proceed.
