After the disembarkation of the last passengers, the ship MV Hondius left the port of Granadilla de Abona (Tenerife) this Monday bound for Rotterdam (Netherlands), where it is expected to arrive in approximately five days. The cruise ship, affected by a hantavirus outbreak, thus begins its final journey after the complete evacuation of passengers.

A basic crew of 26 crew members remains on board, responsible for taking the vessel to its final destination.

The operation to evacuate the more than 140 passengers from the cruise ship has concluded "successfully", as reported by the Minister of Health, Mónica García, at a press conference from the port of Granadilla de Abona. The ship remained docked for nearly an hour due to meteorological reasons, allowing the disembarkation to be completed "with complete safety", as explained by the minister.

García has underlined that the Government has fulfilled its objective "with effectiveness, commitment, transparency, and humanity", considering closed an operation that he has described as unprecedented due to its logistical and sanitary complexity.
