The president of Indra, Ángel Simón, will present this Monday in Barcelona, accompanied by the company's CEO, José Vicente de los Mozos, the company's new strategic plan for growth and investment in Catalonia. It will be Simón's first public event as the head of Indra.

Under the slogan “Innovate, advance, grow. All united, stronger. The time is now”, the multinational technology and defense company will bring together some 250 companies with the aim of reinforcing its “driving role for talent, innovation and industry” in a collaborative ecosystem in which 350 Catalan entities already participate, 130 of which are linked to defense activities.

Facing Industrial Challenges

The central objective of this proposal is to respond to the industrial challenges posed by the Special Modernization Programs (PEM) in the defense sector, to strengthen Spanish industrial leadership and project it towards the whole of Europe.

The President of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, will be responsible for closing the session, in which the Secretaries of State for Defense and Industry, Amparo Valcarce and Jordi García Brustenga, will also speak.

Directors from large companies, SMEs, 'startups', research centers, and universities that cooperate with Indra in various industrial plans will also attend the meeting, which will take place at Los Tinglados in the port of Barcelona.

Indra already has a consolidated presence in Catalonia, where it has deployed a model based on "institutional proximity, commitment to the territory, and European vision".

Currently, the company manages more than 350 million euros in business from Catalonia for international clients and is among the main technology employers in the community, with around 3,500 professionals.

The company's plans include increasing its workforce in the region to accompany its expansion and reinforce Catalonia's positioning as a technological 'hub' in Southern Europe. Among its main strengths in the territory are its cross-cutting capabilities in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), and secure communications.

The Catalan centers of Indra participate in European projects related to satellite navigation, Earth observation, cooperative defense, intelligent mobility, AI applied to essential services, digitalization of administrations, and security and resilience.
