The campaign for the 2026 Andalusian elections has already begun and the parties are not only competing in rallies, posters, and polls. They are also doing so in video. The first campaign clips from the candidates for the Junta seek to condense in a few seconds the tone of each project: Juanma Moreno's stability, María Jesús Montero's appeal to public services, José Ignacio García's emotional and Andalusian campaign, Manuel Gavira's message about "national priority" and Antonio Maíllo's attempt to mobilize the left to "pull off a surprise".
Andalusia votes on May 17 and the main candidates have started their campaigns in different parts of the community: Moreno and Maíllo in Seville, Montero in Granada, Gavira in Cádiz and García in Málaga.
Juanma Moreno: management, stability and the message of “not getting into trouble”
Juanma Moreno has premiered his first campaign launch clip today, with the word "strength" as the central idea. Yesterday the campaign started in the Murillo Gardens, in Seville, with a very recognizable message: asking for a "strong" Government and preventing Andalusia from "getting into trouble." The PP candidate starts as the favorite in the polls and seeks to revalidate the absolute majority, with a campaign focused on management, stability, and the idea that an insufficient result could leave him in the hands of Vox.
In his first act, Moreno asked Andalusians to "remember" and examine the evolution of the community during his years in San Telmo. He also railed against Catalonia's singular financing and defended equality between territories, a core issue that the PP wants to make a central part of its discourse to mobilize the Andalusian electorate.
María Jesús Montero: healthcare, public services and “giving back hope”
María Jesús Montero was the first to launch her campaign video, in early April. She has opened the PSOE campaign in Granada, supported by Miguel Ríos and with a speech focused on the defense of public services. The socialist candidate has placed healthcare as one of her main pillars and has promised to reduce waiting times for a medical appointment, in a start designed to turn social discontent into a useful vote against the PP.
Montero has tried to dispute Moreno's framework of "stability or mess" and has brought the "mess" into everyday life: waiting for a medical appointment, not being able to access housing, or not receiving aid on time. Her campaign begins with a message of mobilizing the left and recovering trust in the public.
Manuel Gavira: Vox starts in Cádiz with “national priority” and Andalusians first
Manuel Gavira also launched his campaign video today. Yesterday, the Vox campaign kicked off with events in Cádiz and with a message very aligned with the party's national framework: "national priority" and "Andalusians first." Vox wants to turn these elections into a test of strength to influence the future Andalusian government if Moreno does not achieve an absolute majority.
Gavira has appealed to farmers, ranchers, fishermen, and public services, advocating for less "political spending" and more social spending on health, education, and dependency. His objective is clear: to position himself as the key to governability and to pressure the PP from the right throughout the campaign.
Antonio Maíllo: Por Andalucía seeks to "surprise" from Seville
Antonio Maíllo has not made a formal campaign launch clip but has already released some multimedia 'vault' pieces to make clear what his discourse on social networks will be. Yesterday he began the campaign for Por Andalucía in the Alameda de Hércules, in Seville, with a message of mobilization of the left and defense of public services.
Maíllo tries to occupy the space of a governing left, with proposals on public health, education, dependency, and housing. His message seeks to differentiate himself from both the PP and Vox, but also to compete with Adelante Andalucía for the progressive vote that does not resign itself to a conservative majority.
José Ignacio García: Adelante kicks off in Malaga with a fresh campaign and emotional vote
José Ignacio García has not yet launched a campaign launch video, but his social media skill is clear from the load of multimedia and unpolished, natural material on his profile. The candidate for Adelante Andalucía has started the campaign in Málaga, a territory of strong symbolic value for his party because it is the province of President Juanma Moreno and because it represents, according to his diagnosis, the economic model of the PP. His launch included an action under the Guadalmedina bridge with the slogan “Adelante, vote what you feel”.
García seeks to present herself as a “fresh, new, Andalusian nationalist and feminist” left, against the classic debate of the useful vote. Her campaign focuses on housing, healthcare, education and on the impact of the tourist and economic model on young Andalusians, especially in provinces like Málaga, Granada, Córdoba and Jaén.
Five videos, five campaign stories
Campaign videos function as a quick X-ray of the Andalusian political moment. Moreno tries to reinforce the idea of stability and management. Montero wants to make healthcare and public services the center of the campaign. García bets on emotional, young, and Andalusian communication. Gavira hardens the identity axis with national priority. And Maíllo presents himself as the left that wants to govern, not just resist.
The audiovisual battle matters because many voters will not watch full rallies or read electoral programs. They will see cuts, reels, X clips, Instagram videos, and fragments shared by WhatsApp. In a short campaign, each candidate needs their first video to say something recognizable in a few seconds.
