The mail-in vote is gaining importance in the Andalusian elections on May 17. Correos has already admitted 178,540 applications from citizens who have opted for this system to exercise their right to vote, which represents an increase of 1.11% compared to the 2022 regional elections.

Of that total, 97,829 applications have been processed in person at postal offices, while 80,711 have been managed remotely through the Correos website, reflecting the growth in the use of digital channels for this type of procedure.

Seville and Malaga lead the requests

By provinces, Seville heads the list with 41,997 applications, followed by Málaga with 31,403. Also noteworthy are Granada (22,362), Cádiz (20,679), and Jaén (19,016). On the opposite side, Huelva (12,000) and Almería (13,900) register the lowest volumes, although equally relevant within the regional total.

Document Submission Underway

After verifying the applicants' registration in the census, the provincial delegations of the Electoral Census Office are sending the necessary documentation—ballots, envelopes, and registration certificate—by certified and urgent mail.

As of today, Correos has already made more than 156,000 electoral documents available to voters, while the distribution process continues.

The deadline for the Census to send all documentation ends on May 10, and mail carriers will make up to two attempts at hand delivery before leaving a notice for pickup at the office.

Until May 13 to vote

Voters who have requested a mail-in ballot may cast their vote until Wednesday, May 13 at any Post Office in Spain. To do so, it will be necessary to identify themselves with their DNI, passport, or equivalent official document.

In case of not being able to attend personally, the voter may authorize another person to carry out the procedure on their behalf through a specific document.

More than six million census cards sent

In parallel, Correos has already distributed more than 6.5 million census cards, on which citizens can check their polling station and voting booth for the day of the vote.

In addition, the distribution of electoral propaganda from the different parties continues, in the final stretch of the campaign.

With this data, postal voting is once again consolidated as an increasingly used alternative by Andalusians, in elections that will be held with slightly higher figures than in the last call.
