The Parliament has called on the Government of Spain to review and update the decree regulating the registration of tourist homes, in order to align it with the EU regulation on this matter and thus "avoid the existence of duplicities in procedures".

This request is part of a non-binding proposal (PNL) defended this Thursday by PP deputy María Salomé Cabrera in the Commission for Tourism, Culture, Sports, Labor, Public Function and Social Dialogue, which has finally been approved.

In the first section of the initiative, PP, Vox, MÉS per Mallorca, and the Mixed Group supported the proposal, while PSIB opted for abstention. The point calling on the Government to eliminate "any unnecessary administrative burden" arising from the coexistence of different registration systems and to guarantee legal certainty for both operators and users achieved even broader support, with the favorable vote of almost all groups, with the exception of MÉS, which abstained.

Likewise, the initiative urges the central Executive to respect the competencies of the autonomous communities and, in particular, of the Balearic Islands in matters of tourism planning, and to "recognize the validity and effectiveness of existing regional registers".

Similarly, the Govern has been asked to defend, within the framework of the Sectoral Conference on Tourism and other spaces of institutional coordination, an agreed-upon solution that "guarantees legal certainty, the competitiveness of the sector, and respect for the distribution of competencies". These last two points were approved with the unanimous support of all groups.

Conservation plan for the Son Jaumell tower

The same commission also dealt with another PNL from MÉS per Mallorca, presented by deputy Maria Ramon, regarding the maintenance of the Son Jaumell defense tower, which was also approved.

In this case, the Parliament asks the Govern to draft and implement a specific maintenance and conservation plan for the tower, or to enforce the current regulations on historical heritage regarding defensive towers, guaranteeing the mandatory conservation actions.

In the same way, it is requested that the tower be integrated into the programs for enhancing public heritage, including its signage, interpretation, incorporation into cultural and educational routes, and its dissemination as a heritage element of the Natural Park of Levante. All these sections have been unanimously approved.

The PNL also urges the Government to budget the necessary interventions within the accounts of the autonomous community and to set up an information point with staff from the Natural Park of Llevant at the southern entrance of the park. On the first of these two points, all groups have voted in favor, except for Vox, which has abstained, while on the second, PP and Vox have supported and the rest of the formations have abstained.
