The Estonian Foreign Minister, Margus Tsahkna, announced this Thursday that Tallinn has called Russia's interim chargé d'affaires for consultations in order to protest a "continuous disinformation campaign" directed against the country and the rest of the Baltic States, after Moscow spread claims that they were allowing Ukraine to launch attacks against Russia from Estonian territory.

"Russia continues to spread false accusations, threats, and deliberate provocations. Let's make this absolutely clear: Estonia has not allowed its territory or airspace to be used for attacks against Russia. These claims are false, and Russia knows it," Tsahkna said in a message on social media.

In relation to the controversy over the presence of Ukrainian drones in the airspace of the Baltic countries, the head of Estonian diplomacy remarked that it is a "direct consequence of Russia's illegal war of aggression against Ukraine."

He thus underlined that Ukraine has the right to defend itself from the aggressor and "attack military targets that sustain the Russian war machine."

For this reason, Tsahkna maintains that Estonia "will not be intimidated by propaganda or threats." "A threat against a NATO ally is a threat against the entire Alliance, and our allies remain united by our side," he asserted, referring to the support of the Atlantic Alliance.

In parallel, the Latvian Armed Forces activated sirens and anti-aircraft alerts this Thursday after detecting the incursion of a drone in an area in the south of the country, bordering Lithuania and Belarus. The episode, which maintained the state of emergency for about four hours, adds to recent security incidents recorded in Lithuania and Estonia due to incursions and violations of their airspace.
