The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a warning this Wednesday to the Government of Canada, threatening to adopt adequate and "corresponding" "response" measures for the manufacturing of drones destined for the Ukrainian Army on its territory, within the framework of a strategic agreement between both countries while the Russian invasion continues.
"We reserve the right to an appropriate response and we will take this new circumstance into account in our political-military planning," warned the spokeswoman for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, during a press conference in which she addressed this pact.
At the end of May, the Ministry of Defense of Canada, a NATO member state, made public the signing of this agreement to produce combat drones on Canadian soil, which would be destined for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, according to information collected by the TASS news agency.
The governments of Canada and Ukraine have signed a strategic agreement for the joint production of unmanned weapon systems, including these drones, an initiative that has been harshly criticized by Moscow. The pact contemplates the manufacture of unmanned aerial vehicles with the aim of enabling Kyiv to strengthen its air defense.
