A total of 14,583 members of the State Security Forces and Corps (FCSE) will be responsible in Andalusia, next Sunday, May 18, for ensuring that the electoral day proceeds with absolute normality and that the more than 6.8 million Andalusians called to the polls for the regional elections can go to vote and exercise their right without incident.

The security operation will provide coverage during this May 17 for the opening of 3,756 polling stations distributed throughout the community, where 10,403 polling tables will be set up, made up of 31,209 members.

According to data sent to Europa Press by the Government Delegation in Andalusia, the specific security device will consist of 5,584 agents from the National Police and 8,999 members of the Civil Guard distributed among the eight Andalusian provinces this May 17, to whom will be added members of the Local Police and the Unit of the National Police attached to the autonomous community.

The Civil Guard and the National Police have maintained the operation active since the start of the electoral campaign, with a first phase focused on obtaining information and preventing possible incidents or conflict situations. From 8:00 PM on May 17, a second phase will be activated, in which agents will assume tasks of surveillance and control of polling centers, as well as the custody of electoral material.

The State Security Forces and Corps will carry out specific monitoring of the 10,403 polling stations during the voting day in Andalusia. For these elections, 3,756 electoral premises will be available distributed among the 785 municipalities of the autonomous community.

The Government Delegate in Andalusia, Pedro Fernández, has highlighted "the joint work and coordination between the different police forces involved, which aim to guarantee the normal functioning of the electoral day and the adequate development of the elections to the Parliament of Andalusia".

In a statement, Fernández has remarked that "it is a large-scale device intended to ensure that the election day proceeds with normality, security, and absence of incidents, so that citizens can exercise their right to vote with full freedom and guarantees". At the same time, he has expressed his gratitude "for the effort, dedication, and professionalism of all the police forces participating in the operation".
