The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, stated this Thursday that José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero is "the godfather of sanchismo" and, furthermore, has contributed to "dividing Spaniards".

In response to a parliamentary question from the PSOE, Ayuso assured from the Assembly that Spain is experiencing an "unprecedented" situation, stating that, "they are leaving us before the world with a first president of Spain indicted, a first State Attorney General convicted, a first lady indicted and meanwhile, Zapatero, the godfather of the PSOE, has resurrected the Spain of factions," she pointed out from the tribune of the regional Chamber.

The Madrid leader also accused the former socialist president of having promoted "a sectarian law to live off the past by dividing Spaniards" and of pitting society against each other "by sex".

"Bolivarian Socialism"

During her speech, Ayuso linked the PSOE with the so-called "Bolivarian socialism" and accused socialist leaders of having "profited from dictatorships like Venezuela" while the country suffered "famine, torture in prisons, and an exodus of more than eight million people".

The Madrid president further escalated her tone by assuring that "Sánchez has united his destiny with Zapatero's, as he did with the prosecutor's destiny because he put them there to keep the mafia alive".

"Democracy or progressivism is not being judged here," Ayuso continued, referring to socialist criticism of judicial investigations affecting the government's circle. "Corruption is being judged here - she concluded - and Zapatero, who is the godfather of sanchismo."
