The general secretary of the PP of Madrid, Alfonso Serrano, has criticized this Tuesday the management of the central Executive during the presentation of a campaign about the 100 new municipal facilities promoted by mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida.

During the presentation of a campaign to publicize the 100 new facilities promoted by the Madrid City Council in the 21 districts of the capital, the general secretary of the Popular Party of Madrid, Alfonso Serrano, contrasted local investments with what he described as questionable practices of the central Government.

“While here equipment and infrastructure are being made, we see what the Government of Pedro Sánchez was dedicated to,” Serrano affirmed. According to the popular leader, information known from messages linked to Koldo García, Víctor de Aldama and the minister’s circle Miquel Iceta would reveal that the Executive “placed the husband of a minister -today ambassador with a huge salary- in an airline company that had previously been rescued by the Government.”

Serrano made these statements during an event aimed at presenting the municipal campaign that will disseminate the new facilities promoted by the City Council led by Mayor José Luis Martínez‑Almeida.

100 facilities in the districts of Madrid

The popular leader defended that the initiative reflects “the investment commitment of the municipal corporation's team”, highlighting that the actions are distributed throughout the 21 districts of the city.

According to Serrano, the Popular Party considers the role of local leaders in each neighborhood key. “For the PP of Madrid, the work of district presidents and councilors has always been very important, because they are a fundamental part of the project led by Martínez-Almeida in the city and Isabel Díaz Ayuso in the Community of Madrid,” he pointed out.

Criticism of the Government for railway investment

The general secretary of the Madrid PP also criticized the central Executive's infrastructure policy, especially in railway matters.

Serrano questioned the announcements made by the Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, about new investments in the Commuter rail network. “He presented us with a PowerPoint with supposed added investments in Commuter rail. But where is that money, beyond the PowerPoint paper?”, he asked.

In his judgment, the lack of the General Budgets would be affecting the state investment in railway infrastructures.

Political stability in the face of municipal conflicts

During his intervention, Serrano defended that governments with a clear majority can more effectively develop their electoral commitments. In this regard, he pointed out that the majority obtained by Martínez-Almeida in the Madrid City Council allows for the materialization of projects committed to the citizens.

The popular leader also criticized the PSOE for its actions in the Madrid municipality of El Boalo-Cerceda-Mataelpino, where -as he explained- the socialists promoted a motion of no confidence against the then mayor Sergio Sánchez Yunquera.

Serrano stated that the councilor had reported alleged irregularities linked to the previous socialist period in the municipality. According to the popular leader, the denounced woman -current mayor- would now be charged with corruption “for the same facts that Sergio reported”.
