The ERC spokesperson in Congress, Gabriel Rufián, has demanded this Wednesday from the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, that he give clear explanations regarding the accusations affecting former president José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero in the Plus Ultra case, warning him: "If it's true, it's shit. If it's a lie, it's even bigger shit".
During the control session of the Government in Congress, Rufián directly questioned the head of the Executive, asking him: "Where does lobbying end and influence peddling begin?", in reference to the role of the former socialist leader in this matter.
Sánchez responded by recalling that the Government had already sent the Chamber a bill to regulate the activity of influence groups, a norm that, he stressed, is still pending the different parties resuming its parliamentary processing.
The president reiterated that the PSOE and the Executive will cooperate with Justice in everything they are asked to do and expressed his "respect for the presumption of innocence", while also conveying his support for Zapatero for the legacy he left at the head of the Government. "I also want to recall that unlike what happened when (José María) Aznar or Mr. (Mariano) Rajoy governed, that during José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero's term there were no corruption cases", he added.
