The spokesperson for the Federal Executive of the PSOE, Montse Mínguez, has reacted to the National High Court's decision to indict former president José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero for alleged crimes of money laundering, influence peddling, and document forgery, expressing her rejection of the judicial measure.
“They won’t stop,” she stated in a message on 'X', released a few minutes after it became known that Judge José Luis Calama has resolved to open proceedings against the former socialist leader in the “Plus Ultra case” and has summoned him to testify on June 2.
Cendón positions himself in favor
The most detailed support has come from PSOE deputy in Congress and general secretary of the party in the province of León, Javier Cendón, who has publicly expressed his “support” for the former head of the Executive. “In politics, there are times when you have to be there. And I am with José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero,” he emphasized in a message published on social media.
“Absolute respect for Justice and firm defense of his presumption of innocence against any attempt at political or media lynching,” Cendón wrote, before reiterating his support for the former leader with another message: “All my support, Mr. President.”
Page, "stunned"
The president of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page, learned of the news of the investigation into Zapatero during an interview on the radio station Onda Cero. "It leaves me stunned, it leaves me stunned, honestly," he said. "I wish him, logically, well in this process and that he can defend himself," stated the president of Castilla-La Mancha, who added: "The memory I always have is the personal experience with Zapatero, I tell you, I have never seen him particularly obsessed with money, far from it."
