The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food will transfer a total of 54,497,296.86 euros to 17,418 holders of agricultural operations in Aragón to cover the purchase of fertilizers. Throughout the country, the aid will reach 494.5 million euros and will benefit 249,376 farmers.
Within this allocation, the subsidies directed to irrigation in Aragón amount to 30,092,894.74 euros, linked to an area of 325,328.23 hectares, while dryland crops will receive 24,404,402.12 euros for an area of 636,691.91 hectares.
The Government of Spain expects that the amounts will be deposited into the accounts of the beneficiaries during the first week of September. In parallel, there are still 9,362 potential recipients across Spain who need to clarify some issues or complete administrative procedures before they can collect the aid.
Since the publication of the list on July 6, 1,290 farmers have submitted their resignation from these subsidies. The Executive plans to disseminate new lists of beneficiaries in the coming weeks.
The support line for the purchase of fertilizers is part of the Comprehensive Response Plan to the Middle East Crisis, approved by the Government on March 20 through Royal Decree-Law 7/2026, which started with an allocation of 500 million euros.
Subsequently, the second Royal Decree-Law 18/2026, of support measures approved by the Council of Ministers on June 29, increased this allocation by 165 million euros, reaching a total amount of 665 million.
In that same meeting of the Council of Ministers, the unit amounts to compensate for the increase in fertilizer prices were raised, setting them at 92.5 euros per hectare for irrigated crops and 38.33 euros per hectare for dryland crops. Fertilizers have become one of the raw materials that have increased the most in price due to the war conflict, so this aid aims to mitigate the impact of the cost increase on agricultural operations.
The purpose of these measures is for farmers to maintain adequate levels of fertilization, essential to preserve the volume of agricultural production, without incurring excessive additional costs or passing it on to an increase in food prices.
Adding the two support packages activated by the Government to face the consequences of the crisis in the Middle East, the specific aids directed to the agricultural and fishing sectors reach a joint budget of 1.107 million euros.
